About Creator Debra De Liso
Small Town is an inspirational indie comedy by Debra De Liso and her Walk A Mile Works production company.
A multi-hyphenate award-winning creator (actor, dancer, director, writer, choreographer and teacher), Debra has directed more than 700 original one-person plays at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts, USC and professionally. By taking her innovative theatre workshops to the community, Debra has transformed lives in prisons, artists with disabilities, and girls with Turner Syndrome.
Debra won the 2014 Rainbow Award from the LA Women’s Theatre Festival for her decades of work bringing theatre to multi-cultural and diverse communities.
Her theatre-into-film production company, Walk A Mile Works, supports her idea of shared storytelling through "Theatre of Compassion" principles.
She also shares her artistic compassion through online courses in the Theatre of Compassion Academy.
She is currently working on her first non-fiction book, The Body & Soul of a Role. Though she has written/produced and directed hundreds of plays, Small Town is her first feature film.
